The highly anticipated renowned musician’s, Tewodros Kassahun, a.k.a. Teddy Afro’s album, entitled ‘Tikur Sew’ will be released today. This album which was long awaited by his fans has 11 tracks. Nine are composed by the young composer Michael Hailu who is also known for Zeritu Kebede’s Dinizaze and Michael Belayneh’s Tizita.
The title song Tikur Sew was also composed by the renowned composer Abegaz Kibrework Shiwota.
All the melodies and the lyrics were written by the artist himself and a unique voice of the renowned Ethiopian poet and playwright Tsegaye Gebremedhin is in one of his songs. In this song entitled ‘Hail’ (Power) Tsegaye reads his poem ‘feran’ which is recorded in this song.
One of the tracks title ‘Oh Africa’, which was recorded live featured by Abugida band, was released as a ringtone to promote this album last week. This ringtone was sent to one million people randomly on April 19 and those who got the message and agreed to the terms were charged two birr per message. Sources told The Reporter that up to now around 100,000 people responded to the message. Sources also revealed that an additional six songs will be sent to 11 million people in a few days.
Starting today his album will reach audiences through Electra and Ambassel music shops in Addis Ababa and the other regions with the exception of northern Ethiopia which will be available at Tana Entertainment.
