Ms. Faiza Abou El-Naga, Egypt’s National Security Advisor to the President of Egypt, on a visit to Ethiopia last week, said on Friday (January 16) that Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn had been invited by the Government of Egypt to participate in an economic conference that will be held in March to support Egypt’s economy.
Prime Minister Hailemariam said he would attend the conference. During her visit Ms. El-Naga held talks the Prime Minister, on ways of enhancing development, peace and the growth of the two countries. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Christos told reporters later that the two countries had reached agreement to increase their trade and investment ties.
Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros also held talks with Ms. El-Naga on regional and international issues of common interest. Ms. El-Naga, who noted the recent Ethiopian Public Diplomacy Delegation’s visit to Cairo was a complete success, suggested both countries needed to tap more potential areas of cooperation including investment and trade. Dr. Tedros said that Ethiopia was fully committed to tighten and consolidate investment cooperation. The two sides recalled the successful conclusion of Ethio-Egypt Business Forum on November 2 2014 on the sidelines of the fifth Joint Ministerial Commission Meeting.
