President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir of Sudan held talks on January 13 with Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the State Guesthouse in Khartoum, capital of Sudan. President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir noted that the bilateral ties of Sudan and China were arresting signs of continued development marked by history.
The President who appreciated the ongoing support and mutual understanding exhibited between the two countries at regional and global issues of mutual interest dubbed the bilateral relations of the two countries as a manifest of South-South cooperation.
The President also noted that the Special Consultation in Support of the IGAD-led South Sudan Peace Process featured positive results in speeding up the South Sudan peace talks. He also pointed out that Sudan stood committed to usher in a new era of Sudan-China cooperative partnership in the field of regional peace and security.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi underlined that his country valued its strategic engagement with Sudan, reiterating that his visit to Khartoum aimed at showcasing China’s support to Sudan’s overall development. He also stressed the need to identify ways to sustain the common areas of partnership and identify new cooperation fields. The Foreign Minister also put forward that China stood ready to the creation of enabling conditions to capture a peaceful and stable region, adding that the Special Consultation in Support of the IGAD-led South Sudan Peace Process signified China’s move to help the people of Africa fix their problems with Africa ways and solutions. He also noted that the Special Consultation in Support of the IGAD-led South Sudan Peace Process gave birth to “five-point important consensus.”
