Laval police are searching for an Ethiopian woman who speaks neither French nor English.

Netsanet Asfaw Tasew, 31, has been missing since July 4, according to a city of Laval media release.

She worked as a domestic for a family from Saudi Arabia that was visiting for a wedding.

The day she went missing the family left Tasew alone with the family’s children and when the parents returned she was gone.

She brought her passport but not her clothes, and she has no money, the release said.

Nathalie Lorrain, a police spokesperson, said Tasew had been working for the Saudi family for two years. She said investigators don’t know whether she ran away or not.

“Everything was going well so they don’t understand exactly what happened.”

She said the woman has a Visa so she can legally stay in Canada for a few months.
