Ethiopian Solomon Deksisa wins Bridge Run

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Officials have announced the winners of the 35th annual Cooper River Bridge Run.

Solomon Deksisa, 21, from Ethiopia, was the first to cross the finish line in the main race.  He finished with a time of 29:37.

The female winner, 33-year-old Janet Cherobon-Baucom finished with a time of 33:01.  She is the first American woman to finish first since the mid-90s.  She is from Georgia, but was born in Kenya.solomon deksisa wins-bridge run

Alex Dupont took first place in the wheelchair race with a time of 25:42, and the local winner was 36-year-old Brian Johnson.

John Palmer, 12, of Mt. Pleasant, was the first youngster to cross the finish line.
