WHEATON, Md. – The man accused of three violent carjacking robberies which started near a mall in Wheaton, has now been accused of two more violent robberies. Nearly all the victims were elderly. Two of them wound up hospitalized.

Police have arrested Henry Levi Sanders, 50, of Brightseat Road in the Glenarden area. He has been charged with kidnapping, carjacking, armed robbery and assault.

The carjackings in Montgomery County began the day before Thanksgiving, then continued on the Saturday and Sunday of that week. The victims were 75, 60, and 77 years-of-age. The oldest, a man, was beaten and cut by the assailant, who, police say, used a yellow box cutter.

Police in neighboring Prince George’s County were also seeking a suspect in connection with two similar robberies. On Nov. 18th, in Chillum, a 79-year-old man required hospitalization after being punched during a strong-arm robbery. And on Nov. 20th, at the Home Depot store in Hyattsville, an assailant pulled a knife on a motorist after asking the driver for a ride to a Metro stop.

Police in Montgomery County released a store security video of a suspect in their carjackings. And now, police say, public tips led them to identify Henry Sanders as a suspect. The victims in P.G. also identified Sanders as their attacker, when they were showed an array of photos of possible suspects, according to court documents.
