Ethiopian Airlines technicians leaving for better pay

The Reporter: By a Staff Reporter

Disgruntled aircraft technicians of the Ethiopian Airlines are leaving the airline to join mega carriers in the Middle East and the maintenance repair and overhaul centers in that region. As the demand for aircraft maintenance technicians is increasing in the international market, aircraft technicians working at Ethiopian Airlines have been demanding for a salary raise. The technicians were expecting a hundred percent salary increment made at the end of last year. However, they found out that the management of Ethiopian had made a 35 percent increment for the technicians. The airline made a 100-180percent raise for members of the cockpit crew and this has infuriated the technicians.

Some of the technicians working for Ethiopian told The Reporter that 56 senior technicians recently went to Nairobi to hold interviews with representatives of GAMCO (Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company). They said these technicians have sent their documents to GAMCO and held the interviews on February 1 and 2. “Most of these technicians will join GAMCO. The mass exodus of technicians is alarming,” they said. “We even met our bosses in Nairobi,” they added. Ethiopian has about 700 technicians. Officials of the airline were not immediately available for comment.

Woyane officals are abusing the people of Ethiopia. They are making a big mistake by abusing this educated force they have. Ethiopian Airlines are very profitable company, why don’t they pay them well. I heared it in VOA that woyane is planing to sell the Ethiopian Airlines and Addis Ababa university for western companies. They are abusing the people of Ethiopia and selling the Ethiopian people land, important rosources, and even childerns in the form of adaption. Involing in human trade is evil way of crime. We should do somthing about this mafia group, unless the future Ethiopia is in the evil hand of western capitalists!
