Ethiopia: Trump claims credit for Nobel Peace prize

by Selam

nazret.com – At a rally in Ohio, President Donald Trump falsely claimed that he deserved credit for the Nobel Peace Prize, recently awarded to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Without mentioning Ethiopia or its Prime Minister, Trump said, “I made a deal. I saved a country. And I just heard that the head of that country is now getting the Nobel Peace Prize for saving the country. I said, ‘What? Did I have something do with it?’ Yeah,” Trump said. “But you know, that’s the way it is. As long as we know, that’s all that matters.”

Trump was referring to his offer to help negotiate an agreement between Ethiopia and Egypt over the building of a dam on the Nile. Abiy Ahmed was mainly awarded the Nobel Prize for his role in negotiating a peace deal between Ethiopia and Eritrea, which Trump had nothing to do.
