ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) – Ethiopia’s year-on-year inflation rose to 7.0 percent in February from 6.1 percent in January, the statistics office said on Friday.

Food inflation increased to 7.8 percent from 5.0 percent in the previous month, while non-food inflation dropped to 6.2 percent from 7.4 percent in January, the Central Statistics Agency said.

Like other countries in the region, Ethiopia is suffering from a drought that has depressed food production, leaving 5.6 million of people in need of food aid according to the United Nations.
