The Ethiopian National Football team has just increased its chances of qualification for the 2012 African Cup of Nations with out kicking a ball. Team Ethiopia which is placed in Group B for the qualifications shares the group with Nigeria, Guinea and Madagascar.

Now that, Nigeria’s president has banned its national team from participating in any international matches for two years after a dismal showing at the World Cup, Ethiopia has just boosted its chances.

Nigeria’s action could help Ethiopia qualify for the first time since 1982. It is also to be noted that the Walyas have signed a one year contract with a British coach to prepare the team for the Cup of Nations.

Could we finally see Team Ethiopia, once known as the “Brazil of Africa”, in Brazil four years from now?
