Emirates says it has increased free checked in baggage allowance to three pieces – each not more than 23kgs to passengers traveling on economy class to the United States.

Passengers traveling on Emirates from Addis Abeba to the United States are now permitted to carry additional piece of checked in baggage, which makes the total allowed free checked in baggage to 3 in the outbound flight. Hence, in weight terms, this will raise the maximum free allowed checked in baggage weight per person to 69Kgs.

“Ethiopian travelers take to the US food items and normally require extra piece as weight is always an issue. Normal baggage allowance is 2 pieces each with 23kgs, now we’re offering additional one piece at 23kgs,” said Temima Kemal, Emirates Country Manager for Ethiopia.

“A third piece will be offered to passengers traveling on the outbound sector to all points in the United States, except San Francisco,” she explained.

The deal now leaves extra space and huge capacity to passengers both in terms of extra baggage expense and additional goods to be carried to the US.

The offer is valid for tickets bought between 16thDecember, 2014 and 28th February, 2015, and for travel between 1stFebruary, 2015 and 31stMay, 2015.

Emirates started its flights to the US, into New York in 2004 and expanded to Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Seattle, Washington. DC, Boston, and Chicago.

Emirates operates daily flights between Nairobi and Dubai and onward to more than 140 destinations.
