Dr. Tedros Meets the Ambassador of Indonesia

Dr. Tedros welcomed the new Ambassador of Indonesia to Ethiopia, Ambassador Imam Santoso on Wednesday (January 21). He expressed the support of the Government for the Ambassador during his tenure. Dr. Tedros emphasized that the success of the Ambassador’s stay would mean “the success of Ethio-Indonesian relations”. The newly appointed Ambassador of Indonesia expressed his aim to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and added that they should expand into the trade and investment sectors. Ambassador Santoso noted that two Indonesian Companies in Ethiopia, producing soap and noodles will become operational in a few months.

Dr. Tedros said relations between the two counties should be further enhanced, adding that there was “a huge potential for trade and investment between Indonesia and Ethiopia”. They agreed that the Memorandum of Understanding for the Bilateral Consultation Forum should be signed shortly. Ambassador Santoso, noting that Addis Ababa and Jakarta were regional diplomatic hubs, requested Ethiopia to open an embassy in Jakarta. Dr. Tedors said this would be something Ethiopia would consider.
