Car Accident Left a Promising Young Girl in Hospital. Family Pleas For Information

Selam just graduated from a University to become a Doctor and hoping to attend Harvard Medical School. She was scheduled to start her first job Monday at Children’s Hospital but this young promising girl in a Hospital bed because of the injury of a Hit-and-Run crime.

The family Selam Amanuel critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Boston pleaded Wednesday for the driver to come forward.

Salem Amanuel, 23, of Cambridge, was struck on Massachusetts Avenue in Roxbury at about 3 a.m. Thursday. She was rushed to Boston Medical Center and is in a medically induced coma.”She didn’t deserve it and to see her in the hospital the way that she is — it is not easy for us,” said the victim’s sister, Helen Amanuel. “Whoever you are, understand that it is wrong, please.”

Amanuel, who was born in a Sudan refugee camp and raised in Cambridge, had just graduated from George Washington University and was hoping to attend Harvard Medical School. She was scheduled to start her first job Monday at Children’s Hospital.”The fact that she was on track to do good things with herself shows what kind of person my sister is. She is beautiful inside and out,” Ellen Amanuel said.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a gray or silver Chevy Impala with a spoiler on the rear. Detectives believe that the vehicle may have also sustained damage to the front end passenger side or passenger side mirror.Police said the driver of the car is a light-skinned, African-American man.
