Flamingoes leave for Ethiopia – Punch Newspapers

The Flamingoes  departed the country for Ethiopia  on Thursday ahead of their Uruguay 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia at the Addis Ababa Stadium on Sunday.

According the Nigeria Football Federation’s website, Flamingoes coach Bala Nikyu travelled to Ethiopia with  18 players.

They are Sunshine Queens midfielder Patricia Innocent, Robo’s Fehintola Mabokanje, Doshima Tarnum of Nasarawa Amazons and Confluence Queens’ Mercy Idoko.

Others are Monle Omini of Abia Angels, Christiana Obia (Osun Babes), Precious Vincent (Sunshine Queens), Favour Emmanuel (Abia Angels), Esther Onyenezide (Phoenix Queens), Abibat Agbaji (Confluence Queens), Grace Aondoaseer (Nasarawa Amazons), Esther Momoh of Confluence Queens, Victoria Bassey of Edo Queens, Joy Jerry of Nasarawa Amazons and Oluchi Nnadi of Rivers Angels.

Nigeria represented Africa at the World Cup in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. They drew a bye into the second round, while Ethiopia profited from the withdrawal of first round opponents Kenya.

The return leg takes place  in  Benin on December 16, with the winners on aggregate landing in  the final round of qualifiers.
