We are currently recruiting for a Chief of Party for the Empowering New Generations to Improve Nutrition and Economic Opportunities (ENGINE) Program, an integrated nutrition program intended to decrease maternal, neonatal and child mortality by improving the nutritional status of women and children less than 5 years through sustainable, comprehensive and coordinated evidence-based interventions. This program will be funded by USAID over a five-year period in the amount of $50M.
The Chief of Party (COP) is the key leadership role for this project and will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination and technical direction and management of the USAID Cooperative Agreement for the ENGINE Program. The proposed COP must have the strategic vision, leadership qualities, extensive professional experience in managing foreign assistance programs in Ethiopia and the breadth of technical expertise in health and nutrition programming alongside professional relationships to fulfill the diverse technical and managerial requirements of the Statement of Work and representation needs to the local private sector, Ministry of Health and Provincial Health Offices.
To this end, the COP will maintain close liaison with USAID/Ethiopia, Save the Children’s Office of Health and the Africa Area Office, partner organizations and Government of Ethiopia representatives. The COP will ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementation and the timely submission of all deliverables to USAID, including annual work plans, performance monitoring plans, semi-annual reports and annual reports as may be required.
Qualified candidates must possess the following skills: * Masters Degree in nutrition, public health, social sciences, international development or related field * Minimum of fifteen years experience leading, managing and implementing large-scale international development projects, preferably in the field of nutrition , health policy, health systems strengthening, behavior change communication, community development, food security or agriculture activities * Broad knowledge of public health as well as nutrition and relevant socioeconomic, institutional and policy issues that are related to this area of work * Solid experience interacting with USG agencies, host country governments and other relevant stakeholders * Demonstrated skills working in partnership with international donors and agencies * Proven ability in promoting and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders * Demonstrated skills in leadership and supervision over large projects * Familiarity with USAID regulations and policies * Extensive experience working in Ethiopia in particular (minimum of five years preferred * Proven ability in promoting and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders * Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations * Excellent oral and written communication skills
