The BIA did not provide an explanation how designating one area similar to Greek or China town; Little Italy or Portugese community affects the neighbourhood. In fact it seems like the BIA really does not want to become the first in Canada to allow an African nation acquire such designation. The onus is on the BIA to explain why is it not possible for Ethio-Canadians to have what other communities are allowed in the Mosaic City (not neighbourhood). Mr. Kiru should also explain to us why he thinks Ethio-Canadians should be denied the right other communities in the City are allowed to enjoy. We always understand the term ‘Mosaic’, to be given to the City, and using it at a neighbourhood level looks like another new rule added on Ethiopians only – which in all fairness is not right. I hope the area BIA will do what is right and allow this initiative to be given a chance to benefit all.
